| 9:30 AM | Sunday School (during the Contemporary Service) |
Sunday School is for children age three through fifth grade. It begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 10:30 a.m. The classes are taught by the Children’s Ministry Coordinator, the Assistant Coordinator, and parent volunteers. This is an hour of fun, interactive Bible study and activities, where teachers provide lessons and stories from the “Faith Weaver” curriculum, which ties the Sunday School lesson to the church sermon and adult Sunday School lesson.
In addition, Children’s Worship takes place during the traditional 11:00 a.m. worship service. Children age three through fifth grade remain in church with their parents until the children’s message (approximately 11:30 a.m.). The children are then dismissed for an age-appropriate interactive worship service in the Sunday School classroom taught by the Children’s Ministry Coordinator. Parents also assist with the lesson.
What are the primary differences between Sunday School and the Children’s Worship? In a nutshell, the Sunday School hour is a more comprehensive focus on Bible based curriculum. The children hear a story or lesson, and take part in a craft that is focused on the lesson of the day. Children’s Worship is more interactive, with a puppet show, skit, songs or games over a twenty-minute period.
